Although most inverter filters from manufacturers are equipped with internal interference suppression devices, in some applications the use of external EMC filters is still required. The two EPCSEMC filters are ideal for external applications to frequency converters. With the continuous expansion of the inverter market, fierce competition, cost pressure and technological innovation have led to a continuous decline in product prices and shrinking quantities.

At the same time, the application field of the frequency converter has also been expanded. Today's inverter manufacturers often provide products with built-in interference suppression equipment, but this only ensures that they meet EMC requirements under precisely defined operating conditions. If the limit is exceeded, an external filter must be configured and additional interference tests must be performed, which means more expenditure and ultimately higher system cost.


According to the inverter filter product description, the maximum operating range to meet EMC requirements is usually related to the switching frequency of the inverter and the maximum cable length between the inverter and the motor. Generally, higher switching frequency means stronger interference. Longer cables mean that larger common mode currents will flow through the common mode choke to suppress interference. This limit will not be met if the actual cable used exceeds the maximum cable length defined in the drive product manual. In addition, the built-in noise suppression coil of the inverter can even saturate, causing the entire inverter filter to fail completely.
